France's National Assembly voted 11-10 on October 30, 2026 for a €0.055-per-gigabyte levy on content providers such as Netflix and Google; it is not yet law.

Netflix began cutting about 1,000 jobs, 6% of staff, on October 14, 2026, mostly in product, tech, legal and HR, its biggest layoff since 2022.
