Sony LIV subscription now inside Prime Video India at Rs 399 a month

A Sony LIV subscription can now be bought inside Amazon's Prime Video app in India. Prime Video India announced on 21 October 2026 that it has added Sony LIV as an add-on subscription, priced at Rs 399 a month or Rs 1,499 a year. Subscribers can watch Sony LIV's films, series and live sports within the Prime Video app on phones, the web, Fire TV, smart TVs and other devices where Prime Video works, and manage the payment through their Prime Video account. Prime Video said its add-on offering in India now covers more than 30 streaming services.

Young viewers in India often juggle several streaming apps, each with its own login, payment and renewal date. Add-on subscriptions are an attempt by large platforms to become a single front door: instead of downloading and paying for each service separately, a viewer subscribes from one app, sees everything in one place and handles all payments in one account. For people who already use Prime Video, adding Sony LIV this way can mean one fewer app and one fewer password.

It does not, however, make Sony LIV free for Prime members. The add-on is a separate paid subscription on top of Prime. The practical question for a student or first-jobber is whether the convenience is worth it, and whether they would actually watch enough Sony LIV to justify Rs 399 a month. The yearly option, at Rs 1,499, works out to about Rs 125 a month, so viewers who are sure they will keep it for a year pay much less than with the monthly plan.

Live sport is a large part of Sony LIV's appeal. Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV have announced coverage of India's tour of New Zealand, which began on 22 October 2026 and runs through the Diwali period. For cricket fans, the add-on offers a way to stream those matches from inside the Prime Video app.

There are also habits worth building around any subscription. Monthly plans renew automatically, so it is worth checking the renewal date and cancelling if a series or tournament is over. Shared family accounts can cut costs, but the rules on how many screens can stream at once differ by service, so they should be checked before sharing.

Short-term: Prime Video users can add Sony LIV in a few taps and watch its content, including live cricket from India's tour of New Zealand, without a separate app.

Long-term: As more services join large platforms as add-ons, Indian viewers may manage most of their streaming through one or two main apps. That gives those platforms more control over discovery and pricing, and may change how smaller services reach audiences.
